Zhi Shou San - Stop Coughing Formula - 止嗽散

Zhi Sou San (止嗽散), also known as Cough-Relieving Powder, is a classical Chinese herbal formula originating from Yi Fang Kao (Examination of Medical Formulas). It is designed to treat lingering cough after an exterior wind pathogen has mostly resolved—especially when cough persists with mild phlegm, throat irritation, or itching.

Formula Composition
紫菀 (Zǐ Wǎn) – Moistens Lung, transforms phlegm, relieves cough
百部 (Bǎi Bù) – Moistens Lung, stops cough
桔梗 (Jí Gěng) – Opens Lung Qi, benefits throat, expels phlegm
陈皮 (Chén Pí) – Regulates Qi, dries dampness, transforms phlegm
