Bai Zhu (Chao) 白术(炒), -Largehead Atractylodes Rhizome the cooked root of Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, strengthens the spleen, dries dampness, stops sweating, and stabilizes qi. Often used for digestive weakness and edema.

Usage Methods

  • Decoction (traditional): Add 9-15g of processed Bai Zhu to 2-3 cups of water, simmer for 30-40 minutes, strain and drink the tea.
  • Tea infusion: Use 9-12g, steep in hot water for 20-30 minutes for a lighter preparation.
  • Combined formulas: Most effective when used with other herbs in traditional formulas.
